It looks pretty. I do know from experience that painted wood is a PAIN. We had it for several years. It would chip and was hard to keep nice. Let us know what you do!
It does look nice but I think I would stick with oak cabinets. Also the microwave should match if you are going with stainless steel appliances. Granite will definately add value and you'll get your money back when you sell!
I think it looks nice, BUT...please keep in mind how all of the black furniture at the store shows every piece of dust. If you would like, I will let you practice keeping it clean so you will know whether or not black cabinets will be too hard to maintain. I know how you like a clean house!!!
Also, you might have to hide all the sidewalk chalk! :)

Well, I wouldn't use the word "crazy" though.
I LOVE the re-do, actually. However wood-finished cabinets are a more classic style and will probably have a better re-sell value, when you get to the point that you want to sell your house.
(Think of all the people in the '70s that thought green shag carpet and mint green kitchen appliances were the best thing ever . . . Seriously out of style now.)
